**As a fellow listener, this resonates! I liked the description of a listener as a human vault, and the way you elaborate on the observation part of listening - something I’ve only noticed but not described, and I feel like it’s a huge part of being a listener!
This is exactly how it always seems to go, isn’t it? It took me many years to accept that sometimes, perhaps even most times, my role is the observer, and that’s okay. In many real-world interactions people just want to talk to me about themselves, and while it can feel lonely at times, I think it ultimately does make me a better writer.
I think there’s strength in accepting your role as observer, but it can definitely feel lonely. That’s why close connections and feeling heard by my close friends feels sooo important. Thank you for reading Carly !
